  • 1:01 I will never forget when I saw this exact insect for the first time. I was probably about 8, going for a hike in a big national park that was basically just a huge forest and I saw these funny looking insects that were as I described it, "headbanging their mohawks" and at first I only saw a few of them in a low branch but as my eyes looked up THE ENTIRE TREE was covered in them and it was a big tree, probably at least 45 feet tall. And the tree leaned over the path and had branches that locked with another tree AND IT WAS COVERED TOO. Eventually I looked around we were surrounded by these things, rocking and rolling something fierce. And it was so funny and cool and crazy to see these insects that I thought were headbanging just everywhere. I have no idea what they were doing but I have to assume they were opening some sort of rock and roll insect hall of fame and I was lucky enough to get to watch.
